Life coaching — Some moments that I am thankful for in 2022

I welcomed my first paying coaching client. It was a moment to savour when the signed agreement came in. 🙂

Some of my probono coaching clients rated me 10 out of 10 for the 3-month coaching program. They had 2–3 stars out of 10 in terms of reaching their desired outcomes if they not embark on the program. One said the program was priceless, and she made gift $1000 as donation to charity as a way of paying forward.

I have a clearer sense of the people I’d like to coach, even if I haven’t quite articulated a niche. My clients are generally women who have started working but find themselves questioning why they feel stuck and needed help to unlock their inner wisdom, and feel a sense of direction with next steps that create real change in their own lives.

The process of life coaching reminds me that however much good advice I think I can give to another person, the best wisdom comes from themselves. The coach point out what is unsaid and ask open questions that allow the person to go within. This is something I don’t necessarily do in other aspects of life, and active listening and holding space are things I’d like to practice more in daily life.

I am thankful that Zoom, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Instagram have allowed me opportunities to coach individuals who are based overseas, and to offer peer support to life coaches who are similarly working on their skills and accreditation.

I am thankful that the 1-hour coaching conversations remind me to step away from the hamster wheel of being busy — to go back to key principles, practice my skills and being in the right state of mind to be a life coach to a fellow human being.
